John & Thady Gosden’s Kestenna runs in the Oaks Farm Stables Fillies’ Stakes at York’s Dante Festival on Friday, hoping to go one better from her second at Kempton last time out.

The Pride Of Dubai three-year-old was turned over at short-odds in a three-runner affair in Sunbury-on-Thames on her most recent start, but was a winner at the Surrey track back in February by a whopping nine-lengths.

Life, however, doesn’t get easy as she switches to the turf in Yorkshire on the final day of the Dante Festival, albeit with recent 1,000 Guineas winning-pilot Frankie Dettori in the saddle for the first time.

She faces tough propositions in Listed company, including the highly regarded Snow Lantern for Richard Hannon, currently sixth favourite for the Oaks, and smart prospect Love Is You, who ran Classic duo Sacred and Saffron Beach close at Newmarket last time out.

Hat-trick hunting Creative Flair is another force to be reckoned with for Charlie Appleby, with fellow former Kempton heroine Ville De Grace another lively outsider on the back of her Newbury outing in April.

As well as the current favourite, Richard Hannon also saddles Shine For You, with Primo Bacio and Divine Light completing the line-up.
