To celebrate Ed Walker turning 38, we have taken a look back at Agrotera’s success in the Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton back in 2019.
The then four-year-old, who had landed the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot the previous season, was aiming to bounce back to form in Sunbury-on-Thames after struggling in the later months of the summer.
Going off as the 7/2 joint-favourite, the daughter of Mastercraftsman was a little keen in the early stages but she stuck to the task well.
Coming into the home straight, she was midfield and was gifted a gap by Shenanigans which the filly bolted through with two furlongs remaining.
Walker’s recruit pushed her way in front but she faced a late challenge from James Fanshawe’s Preening.
But Agrotera was always doing enough, staying on to win by a length.
The four-year-old would only race once more, finishing 11th in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Ascot two months later.
