John & Thady Gosden’s Chiasma shed her maiden status at Kempton Park under Frankie Dettori on Wednesday evening, seeing off hot-favourite Sea Sylph on her all-weather debut.

Dettori was denied in the opener when representing Charlie Appleby and Godolphin, as Simon & Ed Crisford’s Safra ran down long-time leader Before Dawn in Sunbury-on-Thames to go four places better than her debut fifth.

Two-time champion jockey Oisin Murphy added another to his tally in the hunt for a third crown as Boss Power landed a third all-weather success on his polytrack debut for Sir Michael Stoute, while Kempton specialist Tahitian Prince saw off fellow Surrey favourite Quick Breath.
