Oisin Murphy landed an impressive hat-trick at Kempton Park on Wednesday evening ahead of this weekend’s Epsom Derby Festival to extend his lead at the top of the jockeys’ championship to six.
Sunstrike, Storm Damage and Red Mirage all duly gave the Killarney pilot three winners on the night in Sunbury-on-Thames on Kempton’s first of four meetings this month.
That took his tally to 28 for the campaign as he bids for a third successive Flat Jockeys’ crown, extending his advantage over William Buick in second, who clocked up a double of his own on the card in Surrey last night.
Charlie Appleby’s Manobo secured a second career success from two under the Godolphin retained rider in the opener, quickening clear impressively in the closing stages, before Renaissance Rose gave the same connections glory in the fixture at Kempton Park.
The Royal Blue silk-bearers also enjoyed victory via Storm Damage for Sin bin Suroor and Murphy, while Valyrian Steel landed another course-and-distance victory after his win here last month.
Spirited Guest, Wishaah and Indigo Times all picked up gold medals, respectively.
The next fixture at Kempton Park takes place on Wednesday 9th June, with tickets available here.
