The Novice Stakes Flat Race is the eighth race that takes place at Kempton Park Racecourse during the second of three August Evening Racing meetings every year.

Every year, the August Evening Racing meeting provides a fantastic nine-race card, which varies based on surrounding race days, and includes some spectacular flat races like The Class 3 Handicap and The EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

About The Race

The Novice Stakes Flat Race is a Class 5 flat race for novices that serves as the penultimate race of the August Evening Racing meeting at Kempton Park Racecourse every summer.

Open to horses aged three years old and above, The Novice Stakes Flat Race is the joint-longest race of the day, running 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 219 yards of Kempton Park’s exquisite racecourse.

The race purse for The Novice Stakes Flat Race was £5,400 last August, which was distributed as follows:

1st place – 10/3 My Frankel (GB) – £3,493

2nd place – 9/4 Dubai Welcome (GB) – £1,040

3rd place – 9/4 Brenford Hope (GB) – £519

4th place – 3/1 Casting Vote (IRE) – £260

The Novice Stakes Flat Race at the Evening Racing is scheduled to commence at approximately 16:55 on Wednesday the 11th of August 2021.

3/1 priced second-favourite Croeso Cymraeg finished just half a length behind Lauberhorn Rocket in second place, followed by 9/4 priced race favourite Hooflepuff in third place and 14/1 priced Falls Creek in fourth.

2018

The 1 mile, 3 furlong and 219 yard Class 6 Handicap Flat Race at Kempton Park’s August Evening Racing meeting was won by 11/4 priced race favourite Penny Poet, ridden by jockey Jamie Spencer and trained by Neil Mulholland.

8/1 priced Art Of Swing finished just half a length behind Penny Poet in second place, followed by 7/1 priced Hint Of Grey in third place and 20/1 priced Pivotal Flame in fourth.

2017

Back in 2017 at Kempton Park Racecourse, The 1 mile, 3 furlong and 219 yard Class 6 Handicap Flat Race during the Evening Racing meeting was won by 9/4 priced race favourite Wolfcatcherjack, ridden by jockey Luke Morris and trained by Sir Mark Prescott.

20/1 priced outsider Rianna Star finished a length and a half behind Wolfcatcherjack in second place, followed by 7/1 priced Powered in third place and 6/1 priced Tuolumne Meadows in fourth.
