The seventh race to take place during the August Evening Racing meeting at Kempton Park Racecourse every summer is The Class 5 Handicap Flat Race.

Kempton Park Racecourse hosts a number of Evening Racing and Afternoon Racing meetings during the summer months each season, all of which feature an enticing range of flat races in various classes and age categories.

Thanks to its fantastic positioning on the outskirts of Surrey near the border of Greater London, Kempton Park Racecourse is an extremely popular flat and jump racing venue, consistently filling its capacity throughout the year.

About This Race

The Class 5 Handicap Flat Race is a Class 5 handicap flat race that serves as the final race of the August Evening Festival at Kempton Park Racecourse every year.

Open to horses aged three years old and above, The Class 5 Handicap Flat Race runs precisely seven furlongs of Kempton Park Racecourse and features runners with official ratings of between 56-70 and 61-75.

The final prize pool of the day last time out was £7,021, which was assigned to the winning and placement positions as follows:

1st place – 5/2 Indian Viceroy (GB) – £3,752

2nd place – 7/2 Lady Of Aran (IRE) – £1,116

3rd place – 11/4 Stormbomber (CAN) – £558

4th place – 8/1 Kamikaze Lord (USA) – £300

7/2 priced third-favourite Lady Of Aran finished just a head behind Indian Viceroy in second place, followed by 11/4 priced second-favourite Stormbomber in third place and 8/1 priced Kamizake Lord in fourth.

2018

Ridden by jockey Exchequer finished first in The Class 5 Handicap Flat Race at Kempton Park Racecourse in August 2018, ridden by jockey Gerald Mosse and trained by Richard Guest.

12/1 priced Diva Star finished four lengths behind Exchequer in second place, followed by 7/2 priced second-favourite Chess Move in third place and 3/1 priced race favourite Treacherous in fourth.

2017

The Class 5 Handicap Flat Race did not take place during the August Evening Racing meeting at Kempton Park Racecourse in 2017. 

Instead, the final race of the day was The Class 6 Handicap Flat Race, which was won by 6/1 priced Atlanta Belle, ridden by jockey Ted Durcan and trained by Chris Wall.
