Jonjo O’Neill’s Quarenta reappears at Aintree this weekend, a year and a half on from his thrilling silver medalist effort at the Christmas Festival in Sunbury-on-Thames back in 2019.

The Voix Du Nord gelding was part of a titanic battle in the Ladbrokes ‘Where The Nation Plays’ Handicap Chase just under two years ago, going down in brave style to Harry Fry’s Just A Sting in a four-way tussle in the closing stages.

The 9-year-old heads for Merseyside this Friday chasing a sixth career success for his Jackdaws Castle handler.

Quarenta features at Aintree this weekend hosts race action on Friday evening, starting from 5:20pm

Other notable races on the card that day saw Bun Doran win the Desert Orchid, Global Citizen land the Wayward Lad and recent Grand National Festival victor Rowland Ward take the Introductory Hurdle.
