Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle hero Cape Gentleman will be partnered by Rachael Blackmore as he returns to flat action in Berkshire later this afternoon.

Emmet Mullins’s charge landed the Grade 2 contest in Sunbury-on-Thames back in February before a creditable ninth in the Grade B BARONERACING.COM Handicap Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival last month.

And he now partners Grand National-winning rider Rachael Blackmore ahead of the curtain-raiser for the 2021 edition of the most prestigious race meeting of its code, with the track set to welcome back 12,000 racegoers to its gates each day this week.

The Champs Elysees gelding won the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh back in October off a mark of 85, and returns to this sphere 15lbs higher.

His handler told Sky Sports: “We’re very excited about him, fingers crossed he’ll run a good race.

“He’s gone up a fair amount in the weights since he won the Irish Cesarewitch, but he won it well and hopefully there’s a bit more improvement in him.”
